The Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Quadcopter, Flight Recorder, Battery & Flash Drive Kit is a bundle from B&H that adds GPS-enabled features to the AR.Drone 2.0 flying experience, and gives you the ability to record up to six hours worth of 720p HD video from the on-board camera.

The Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Quadcopter is a four-propeller RC helicopter with an integrated HD 1280 x 720p camera that supports video and still image capture while in flight. The aircraft includes a lighter outdoor hull for longer battery life and increased maneuverability as well as an indoor hull that integrates prop guards for increased safety. It features an ARM-based CPU running a customized version of Linux, and communicates with the ground-end using an ad hoc (aircraft-to-device) Wi-Fi link.

The AR.Drone 2.0 is flown using a smartphone, tablet or other iOS or Android mobile device. The primary app used to control it is the AR.FreeFlight Control App, and is available free from the Apps Store and Google Play. To maneuver you can use a virtual joystick on your mobile device touchscreen, or you can simply tilt and turn your mobile device to control the quadcopter.

The camera footage can be streamed directly to your mobile device using Wi-Fi or you can insert a USB flash drive into the quadcopter and record directly onto that for best quality. The AR.Drone 2.0's other notable features include an autopilot system, access to the AR.Drone Academy, multiple sensors for smooth flying and stability in the air, and support for acrobatic maneuvers including flips and barrel rolls. The AR.Drone 2.0 is also compatible with other apps including Director Mode, AR.Race 2, AR.Rescue 2 and Astro Drone.

The Flight Recorder, which comes as part of the bundle, is a USB dongle that serves primarily to add GPS tracking to the AR.Drone 2.0. Adding GPS improves the accuracy of the computerized stabilization system the quadcopter needs to translate user input into speed control output sent to the motors. In addition, it enables Click & Go Control Mode. Click & Go Control Mode lets you map out an autopilot course for the AR.Drone 2.0 to follow by placing waypoints (essentially markers) on a map.

Hence the name, the Flight Recorder also has recording capability. 4GB of built in memory allows it to store two hours worth of video from the camera at full quality. And it can also store flight data, much like a real airplane's "black box", including a 3D plot of your entire flight so you can show off all those flips and fancy aerial tricks to your friends or review pilot actions for training purposes. 

The Flight Recorder also has a female USB port. This means you can still plug in a flash drive in case 4GB isn't enough. For this bundle, an 8GB flash drive is included to do just that. Finally, a spare 1500 mAh flight battery is also included. This battery is slightly larger than the 1000 mAh battery that comes with the AR.Drone 2.0 itself. The original battery provides up to 12 minutes flying time, while the additional battery lasts approximately 18 minutes.
